We optimize each light for very specific applications rather than just saying "here's a bike light, it's bright" so you get the most out of your light for YOU. Below is a quick reference chart for key specs and basic overview, with more detail on each below.

For example, Trail Evo is focused on singletrack MTB and handlebar mounting, for a ton of reasons, starting with the beam pattern which we designed very deliberately to be super wide and even, so that when you turn your bars you don't lose the trail, and to fill the foreground with a wall of light. We need more power to cover a larger are with the beam, so we push out more light and use a larger battery where the weight is off your body on the bike, and designed a quick-release mount interface to make it fast and easy to slap it on the bars while ensuring it doesn't wiggle around through rough terrain. Every feature is optimized around that application, purpose-built.

Hangover on the other hand, it optimized around helmet use for trail riding with a narrower beam that fills in a vertical tail leading up to a main spot, so that when you look into a switchback, the trail leading up to where you're looking is lit up too. Since it's more focused, it can use less power for similar illumination intensity, meaning we can drastically decrease weight with a smaller battery while achieving similar runtimes, reducing neck strain while making the package lower-profile so it's less likely to get snagged on tree branches. The mount interface is GoPro-compatible so any 3rd party GoPro-style helmet mounts will work, while keeping it tucked closer to the helmet.

Hangover and Evo were designed together, to work together, as a balanced package for all things MTB.

Portal fills some gaps in specific use cases where you may want something a bit different. We designed it to be a more powerful helmet light, so if you're riding particularly high-speed trails, or steeper terrain where you need to see deep into a chute before you drop into it, Portal will give you more punch than Hangover. It also has more width to the beam, in between Evo and Hangover, so if you're riding more XC terrain or gravel grinding it can serve as a lighter-weight handlebar light, made easy by a swappable mount interface that can be used with our QR Handlebar Mounts

If you're doing a ton of gnarly, fast, steep, rowdy singletrack where your ability to read the terrain at speed is paramount, then Portal + Evo is the package to get.

Detour is dedicated to road riding with a cut-off beam pattern, much like your car's low-beam headlights, so that you don't blind the hell out of everyone coming at your in urban environments. Since road riding typically is flatter and less undulating like singletrack, this also puts all the light down on the road where you can actually use it, instead of wasting it up in the sky like a lot of standard round flashlight style beams out there, making more efficient use of battery, for a more svelte package for road or gravel riding.
