All USB chargers will work with our lights, and they are all safe. There is no danger plugging any of our lights into any modern USB charger and leaving it there indefinitely. The speed of charge is dependent on the output of the charger, here are the main types:
- 5V-only - USB is 5V output at it's base, and then the current rating in amps will tell you how fast it is. For example, the iPhone "tiny white cube" wall chargers are 0.5A output, so they will take ~7 hours to fully charge a Hangover. However, a 5V / 3A charger will do the same job in ~1.5 hours.
- QC - Qualcomm Quick Charge is a brand-agnostic standard that allows the charger to negotiate for 9V or 12V instead of 5V, to enable higher power operation. QC3.0 is very common, but anything QC 2.0 or above is compatible with our lights, and will charge them fastest and most consistently.
- PD - the Power Delivery "standard" is kind of a mess from brand-to-brand, but in general this is the highest-power charging protocol available over USB and our lights can charge safely with it and at high speed.
If you're looking for a charger for the fastest possible charging speeds, look for something with a 15W or higher power rating, or just get a QC charger. If you're just charging your lights overnight for the next night's ride and don't need it to be super fast, then grab anything, it'll work and be better long-term for the battery.
